Date: 2014-03-20T13:00:00
Location: Edinburgh
Presenter: Peter Fraenkel, Fraenkel-Wright Ltd
Conference: SKF Ocean Energy technology Day

A review of tidal stream turbine developments from an engineering perspective. Starting with key engineering design issues, in particular the high levels of torque to be expected, and followed by a brief overview of the leading technologies so far deployed and how the different developers have tackled the key design issues. Finally to put this into context, a discussion of the general state of the industry and of government support (or lack thereof) and what progress might be expected.
